ADMETUS
Poeta temporibus Neronis, qui (ut Lucianus in Demonacte) obscuri nominis fuit. Hic cum Demonacti aliquando dixisset, se unius versus epigramma, h. e. monostichon scripsisse, quod testamentô cavisset, ut sepulchro affigeretur, quod tale erat:
Ταῖα λάβ' Α᾿δμήτου ἔλυτραν, βῆ δ᾿ εἰς ςθεὸν αὐτός.
Terra cape Admeti spolium, caelum ipse petivit.
Ridens respondit demonactes, bonum est, Admete, hoc monostichon. Sed voluistem ipsum pridem tuo sepulchro inscriptum fuisse.

Ε᾿ξ ὁτ᾿ ἐτ᾿ Α᾿μφρῄϚῳ ζευγνήτιδας ἔτρεφεν ἵππους,
Ι᾿σοθέου ὑπὀ ἔοωτι κεκαυμένος Α᾿δμήτοιο.
Cum autem apud Admetum ipsum perquam humaniter esset habitus, ad referendum patrono beneficium, impetravit a Parcis, ut cum illarum fusis Admeti fatalis dies volveretur, hâc lege mortem effugeret, si quis reperiretur, qui illius vice mortem veller oppetete. Cum itaque dies mortis adesset, neque quisquam inveniretur mortis vicarius, recusantibus conditionem amicis omnibus
